Lorenzo MARCONI (PROJECT COORDINATOR)

He is Associate Professor at DEIS since January 2005. He is author of more than 100 technical publications on the subject of linear and nonlinear feedback design published on international journals, books and conference proceedings. In 2005, he received the “Outstanding Paper Prize Award” from the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) for a co-authored paper published on Automatica. His current research interests include nonlinear control, output regulation, control of autonomous vehicles, fault detection and isolation, fault tolerant control.

Claudio BONIVENTO

He is Full Professor and is Director of DEIS (Dept. of Electronics Computer Science and Systems, University of Bologna) since 2000, a senior member of IEEE, and a member of the Adcom of EURON (European Robotics Research Network) since 2000. Since November 2002, he is the Coordinator of the newly constituted research center CASY (Center on Complex Automated Systems) of DEIS.

Claudio MELCHIORRI

He is Full Professor in Industrial Robotics at DEIS since November 2001. He is author or co-author of more than 200 scientific publications on the subject of industrial robotics, manipulation and control design. His research interests include advanced robotic manipulation (dexterous hands, redundant manipulators, manipulability measures, tactile and force/torque sensors, telemanipulation, haptic interfaces) and automatic control (digital control, non linear control, hardware/software control architectures).

Alessandro MACCHELLI

Alessandro Macchelli received the M.Sc. degree (cum laude) in computer science engineering and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy, in 2000 and 2003, respectively.In 2001, hewas aVisiting Scholar with theDepartment of Applied Mathematics, University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands, where he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2003. Since 2005, he has been an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electronics, Computer Science, and Systems, University of Bologna. His current research interests include the modeling, simulation, and control aspects of finite- and infinite-dimensional systems within the port-Hamiltonian framework.

Roberto NALDI

He is currently a Post-Doc student at DEIS University of Bologna In June 2008 he obtained the Ph.D. in Control Systems and Operations Research with a thesis titled “Prototyping, Modelling and Control of a Class of VTOL Aerial Robots” and is currently working on Nonlinear Robust Control for Micro UAVs.

Gianluca DE NOVI

He is currently a research fellow at DEIS University of Bologna. His principal research subject are the surgical robotics and the Virtual Reality surgical simulations.
